Matt Schemmel

Matt Schemmel is VP of Trust at Indeed, where he oversees Security, Data Protection, and Trust & Safety. In this role, he leads the cross-functional teams responsible for safeguarding Indeed’s global hiring ecosystem, with a focus on preserving trust in the hiring process for both job seekers and employers.

Matt has worked at Indeed since 2011, joining as a senior software engineer. His work now centers on curbing fraudulent activity, defending user privacy, and building transparent technology that keeps the job search secure and trustworthy. He is a proponent of industry-wide digital trust standards, partnering with international safety organizations to advance safe, transparent, and AI-enabled hiring environments.

Prior to Indeed, Matt built consumer-facing configuration solutions for several automotive and enterprise server OEMs, serving as a technical lead at Trilogy Software and Versata.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University.
