Serving more than 670 acute care hospital partners, including HCA, VHA, and many regional health systems, Catalyst Learning is committed to creating equitable, scalable learning solutions that transform both employees and organizations.

We are seeking a forward-thinking Lead Instructional Designer who is passionate about transforming adult learning through AI-driven automation, adaptive technologies, and evidence-based instructional strategies.

POSITION Overview

The Lead Instructional Designer reports to the Vice President of Product Management and serves as a lead architect for the design, development, and continuous improvement of learning programs across multiple formats including eLearning, instructor-led, and blended delivery.

This role is ideal for a creative, analytical professional who thrives on applying AI tools, automation, and learning data insights to build transformative, scalable education experiences for adult learners in the healthcare sector.

KEY Responsibilities

Instructional Design and Development

  • Design and develop engaging learning experiences, assessments, and career development resources for adult learners in healthcare settings.
  • Apply proven instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to create interactive and outcome-driven programs.
  • Build and refine learning assets in multiple modalities — self-paced online modules, instructor-led sessions, microlearning, and on-the-job performance support tools.
  • Ensure all materials meet high quality, accessibility, and brand standards.

AI-Enhanced Learning Design

  • Leverage AI-based authoring and automation tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Synthesia, Articulate 360, etc.) to streamline content creation, improve efficiency, and personalize learner experiences.
  • Implement adaptive learning strategies using AI and data analytics to track learner engagement, performance, and outcomes.
  • Prototype and test AI-generated learning content, refining prompts and workflows for scalability.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend AI solutions to enhance instructional design processes and learning outcomes.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Partner with internal teams and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design, review, and implement high-impact learning initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, freelancers, and technology partners.
  • Provide quality oversight for external consultants and content developers.
  • Contribute to product roadmaps and provide strategic recommendations for integrating new learning technologies.

Continuous Improvement and Evaluation

  • Analyze learner feedback, performance data, and course evaluations to inform iterative improvements.
  • Conduct learning needs analyses and audience research to ensure programs align with business and learner goals.
  • Lead pilots or testing initiatives for new instructional technologies or learning formats.

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Sciences, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience designing and developing learning for adult or workforce education audiences.
  • Proven proficiency with Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise) and other modern learning development tools.
  • Strong grasp of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and best practices for curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated ability to create interactive, visually engaging, and outcomes-focused learning experiences across eLearning, instructor-led, and blended formats.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

PREFERRED

  • Experience leveraging AI-based content creation or media tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Synthesia, Articulate 360, etc.) to streamline design workflows or personalize learning.
  • Exposure to adaptive or data-informed learning design, including analytics or learning automation workflows.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, career development, or workforce training environments.
  • Interest in experimenting with emerging learning technologies and contributing to continuous process improvement.

WHY You’ll Love Working Here

  • Mission-driven work that makes a real difference in healthcare career advancement.
  • Collaborative, supportive team culture focused on innovation and lifelong learning.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and exploration of emerging learning technologies.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
