Full job description

Overview
The Firefighter/Paramedic plays a crucial role in emergency response, providing life-saving medical care and fire suppression services. This position requires a dedicated individual who is skilled in both firefighting techniques and advanced medical procedures. The ideal candidate will be prepared to respond to emergencies, protect lives, and ensure public safety in a variety of challenging situations. Neodesha Kansas is a small community around 2400 habitants in Wilson County in South East Kansas. Call volume around 700 a year with newer equipment, aggressive medical protocols and a family atmosphere!

Duties

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls for fire suppression and medical assistance.
  • Perform advanced life support procedures, including administering medications and managing airway emergencies.
  • Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Operate firefighting equipment and vehicles safely and effectively.
  • Engage in mechanical maintenance of firefighting apparatus and equipment.
  • Participate in training exercises to maintain skills in firefighting techniques, CPR, first aid, and emergency medical response.
  • Collaborate with other emergency services personnel to ensure coordinated responses during incidents.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care and incident reports with KEMSIS system
  • Assist with public education programs regarding fire safety and prevention.

Qualifications

  • Kansas Certifications or obtain reciprocity for Kansas Required upon Submittal of Application
  • ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Firefighter 1 & 2 IFSAC or Pro Board Certifications withing 2 yrs of hire date
  • 48~96 Shift Structure
  • Strong mechanical knowledge related to firefighting equipment and vehicles.
  • Proficiency in first aid, CPR, basic life support, and the ability to assess vital signs.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Must be able to pass background checks and meet physical fitness standards for the role.
