Founded in 1860, the Wilton Candy Kitchen is a historic Iowa landmark and one of the oldest candy stores and soda fountains in the state. What started as a confectionery has grown into a destination experience - offering sweet treats and a nostalgic atmosphere that brings people together from near and far. Role Summary

The Assistant Manager plays a key role in keeping daily operations running smoothly while delivering an exceptional customer experience. This is a hands-on leadership position where you’ll work alongside the team, lead by example, and step in wherever needed; from managing the floor to supporting staff and solving problems. This role also offers the opportunity to grow beyond the Candy Kitchen, with potential involvement in other locally owned businesses.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example on the floor, set the tone for the customer experience
  • Support, coach, and motivate team members throughout shifts
  • Help coordinate daily staffing needs and adjust on the fly during busy periods
  • Train new employees and reinforce service and food safety standards
  • Oversee opening and closing routines to keep operations running smoothly
  • Address customer concerns with professionalism and care
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering needs as necessary
  • Jump in where needed to keep the day moving, especially during events or peak times
  • Help maintain the welcoming, nostalgic atmosphere the Candy Kitchen is known for

  • No prior management experience required — training provided
  • Starting pay based on experience, bonuses available

Pay: $30,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
