Communications & Development Manager

Organization

Founded in 1999, Touchstone Foundation’s mission is to elevate the mental well-being of youth and children in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Our work focuses on building the mental health workforce, increasing access to mental health services, and raising awareness about the importance of mental health care. Endowment assets: $11 million.

We provide programs, scholarships, and training for students and recent graduates. We support youth and families by helping to make therapy and counseling more accessible and affordable. We advocate for health equity and policy change to improve the mental well-being of youth, families, and providers in Lancaster County.

Position

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications & Development Manager oversees and strengthens our organizational visibility to grow and develop our fundraising goals that support our programs and mission. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, ability to take initiative, and express integrity. Experience with other community benefit organizations is a plus.

The Communications & Development Manager works closely with the Executive Director, Operations Manager, and Programs Manager at the organization to create and implement marketing and development strategies and plans.

This is an in-person position with one remote day per week, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17602. Remote work policy is an earned benefit assessed every six months on positive performance. Our office is open from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow donor relationships and marketing relationships with communications professionals and community partners, including various local and regional media.
  • Create, implement, and execute multi-year strategic Communications and Development plan, with guidance from Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Lead all social media strategy, including creating graphics, images, and videos in Canva for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, and more.
  • Generate and describe creative, results-oriented marketing of our programs to a diverse client base with multiple audiences.
  • Assess and evaluate current communications needs and recommend new opportunities.
  • Manage the marketing budget and seek methods to expand opportunities through partnerships and ambassadorships.
  • Create and distribute public and targeted marketing and fundraising/development campaigns through existing and new channels.
  • Maintain donor relationship management system (CRM), Little Green Light, ensuring data is accurate.
  • Manage donor communications in CRM, including drafting and updating regular thank you messages and invitations.
  • Organize the annual fundraising event and smaller quarterly and monthly donor engagement events.
  • Convene, staff, and manage a Marketing & Development Task Force to evaluate and recommend strategic marketing and development plans to the Board of Directors.
  • Develop monthly giving campaigns and a planned giving program.
  • Manage event planning consultants, contracted graphic designer, and other subcontracted relationships for communications and development work.
  • Promote programs and services with potential and existing clients and donors.
  • Generate reports to analyze competition and customers, such as Google Analytics, Meta, and Mailchimp.
  • Maintain current website and recommend improvements as needed. Manage relationship with current website host for design updates.
  • Write and distribute blog posts and press releases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and 5-7 years’ experience in marketing, communications, or nonprofit field.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills, including scopes of work, creating, and managing project plans.
  • Technology management experience, including software systems integration and database management.
  • Relevant and transferable skills in business development, sales, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, and leadership.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize competing demands.
  • Holds self and others accountable for results.
  • Takes responsibility and initiates projects with an open mind for constructive feedback and learning.
  • Key attention to detail, strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Team-oriented to support staff and volunteers, actively collaborating on program promotion, external communications, and fundraising tasks alongside the staff team.
  • Ability to constructively address and resolve conflict.
  • Spanish-speaking skills preferred.
  • Curiosity and sense of humor.
  • The ideal candidate will be willing to learn and open to new ideas.

Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience.

  • Working hours: 40 hours per week exempt salary position with flexible but consistent hours.
  • Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000 depending on education, experience, and qualifications.
  • Some required mornings, evenings, and weekends to attend events, Board of Directors, and committee meetings. Advance notice will be given.

  • Eleven paid holidays and 15 days’ vacation, which must be taken within the year they are accrued. Vacation days accrue at the rate of 1.25 days per month.
