FOREMAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Ashley, MI

Job Type: Full-Time | Primarily In-Person with Some Remote Flexibility

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Foreman at Trade Mark Contractors is the frontline leader responsible for daily field execution, crew leadership, safety, and production on residential and commercial construction projects.

This role balances hands-on construction work with active leadership and accountability, spending approximately 50% of time leading and managing the crew and 50% performing skilled construction work.

The Foreman leads crews of 4–6 team members, ensuring projects stay on schedule, materials are managed properly, safety standards are upheld, and workmanship meets Trade Mark’s quality expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, manage, and hold the crew accountable for:
  • Production expectations
  • Quality standards
  • Safety compliance

  • Set the tone on site through clear communication and consistency
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members
  • Address personnel issues on site and escalate as needed
  • On-Site Crew Management & Daily Production
  • Direct daily work activities, including:
  • Assigning roles and tasks
  • Setting daily and weekly production goals
  • Managing start/stop times and breaks
  • Ensuring efficient workflows
  • Sequence work on site to maintain momentum and avoid downtime
  • Track daily production tasks and progress
  • Communicate production status, delays, and constraints to the Project Manager and Construction Operations Manager
  • Project Timeline & Schedule Management
  • Execute the project schedule at the field level
  • Ensure daily tasks align with overall project timelines
  • Identify risks to schedule early and communicate them promptly
  • Lead proactively — solve problems before they impact schedule or cost
  • Material Inventory Tracking & Coordination
  • Track all materials on site, including:
  • Confirming quantities received
  • Identifying shortages or damaged materials
  • Monitoring daily material usage
  • Notify the Project Manager immediately of:
  • Shortages
  • Incorrect deliveries
  • Upcoming material needs
  • Maintain organized, efficient material staging on site
  • Safety Leadership & OSHA Compliance
  • Lead on-site safety efforts, including:
  • Conducting daily safety huddles / toolbox talks
  • Enforcing PPE requirements
  • Identifying and documenting hazards
  • Coordinate with the Construction Operations Manager on safety issues
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Stop work immediately for unsafe conditions and escalate as required
  • Hands-On Construction & Quality Control
  • Work alongside the crew performing skilled construction tasks, including:
  • Wood and steel framing
  • Installing steel/wood studs
  • Setting trusses
  • Installing steel siding
  • Lead layout, setup, and quality checks
  • Ensure workmanship meets Trade Mark craftsmanship standards
  • Technical Problem Solving & Field Decision-Making
  • Interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Solve real-time technical challenges in the field
  • Troubleshoot construction methods to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Escalate complex or high-risk issues to the Project Manager or Construction Operations Manager promptly
  • Equipment & Site Management
  • Maintain control of all tools, equipment, and materials on site
  • Ensure equipment is used properly, maintained, and stored securely
  • Communicate equipment or maintenance needs promptly

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 3–5+ years of construction experience with proven leadership or crew management experience
  • Strong proficiency in:
  • Wood framing
  • Steel framing
  • Steel siding
  • General construction practices
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and plans
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead a crew of 4–6 effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Primarily field-based with indoor and outdoor job sites
  • Physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods
  • Year-round schedule with occasional overtime to meet production demands
