Construction Project Manager Job Description

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Glastonbury, CT

Job Summary:

We are a General Contractor based out of Glastonbury, CT with projects that span within a 30-mile radius. We specialize in new home builds, additions, finished basements, decks/porches/cabanas and kitchen & bathroom remodels. With a lot of work in the pipeline, we are quickly growing and are looking for the right fit for our team. Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Coordination:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including milestones, deadlines, and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and review project plans, budgets, and estimates.
  • Organize and facilitate project meetings to review progress and address issues.
  • Coordinate with construction crews, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the timely completion of project tasks.

Budget Management:

  • Oversee project budgets and ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.
  • Track costs and monitor expenses, including subcontractor and vendor invoices.
  • Approve and manage change orders.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Address and resolve any project-related issues or conflicts that may arise during the construction process.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with relevant building codes, safety standards, and regulations.
  • Perform site visits to ensure quality control, adherence to timelines, and the implementation of safety protocols.

Communication:

  • Maintain regular communication with customers, architects and subcontractors to keep them informed of project progress, changes, and challenges.
  • Address any concerns raised by customers or subcontractors and provide solutions.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, drawings, change orders, and inspection reports.
  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management.

Project Closeout:

  • Oversee the final inspection, walk-throughs, and completion of punch lists.
  • Ensure all final documentation (including warranties, manuals, and as-built drawings) is completed and delivered to the client.
  • Ensure that all financials are settled, and the project is closed out effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and contracts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, on-site role with travel to project sites.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
  • Must be able to conduct site visits and inspections, which may involve navigating construction zones, lifting light equipment, and standing for prolonged periods.
