Job Overview
The Deputy Sheriff plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order within the community. This position involves enforcing laws, conducting investigations, and providing assistance to citizens. The Deputy Sheriff is expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism while ensuring public safety and security.
Duties
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws while maintaining peace and order in the community.
- Conduct criminal investigations, gather evidence, and prepare reports for court proceedings.
- Respond to emergency calls and provide first aid and CPR as needed.
- Monitor surveillance systems to detect suspicious activities or criminal behavior.
- Manage conflicts effectively and de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.
- Provide leadership during community events and engage with citizens to foster trust and cooperation.
- Handle animals in distress or involved in incidents, ensuring their safety and welfare.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies on investigations and operations.
- Maintain accurate records through detailed report writing of incidents, arrests, and investigations.
- Stay informed about immigration laws, loss prevention strategies, and security protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related fields is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience or training in law enforcement practices is highly desirable.
- Skills in first aid, CPR, surveillance techniques, conflict management, and animal handling are essential.
- Strong leadership abilities with a commitment to serving the community effectively.
- Familiarity with criminal investigation processes and report writing standards.
- Military experience is a plus but not mandatory.
