Direct Support Professional (DSP) – 3rd Shift (Full-Time) – CILA Program

Location: Centralia, IL
Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3rd Shift)
Schedule: Variable scheduled days (40 hours/week guaranteed, Full-Time)

Kaskaskia Workshop, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) team supporting four individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential home setting in Centralia, Illinois.

The DSP plays a vital role in supporting individuals to live as independently as possible while ensuring safety, dignity, and quality of life during overnight hours.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current DSP Certification (required prior to hire – must already be obtained)
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (if required for transport)
  • Ability to pass all required background checks (criminal history, Health Care Worker Registry, etc.)
  • Completion of required trainings (CPR/First Aid, CPI if applicable, and other agency trainings)
  • Reliable, dependable availability for overnight scheduling

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Overnight Support & Supervision

  • Provide overnight supervision and support to ensure resident safety and well-being
  • Respond appropriately to resident needs, including nighttime awakenings or assistance requests
  • Maintain a calm, safe, and supportive environment throughout the shift
  • Complete routine checks and required overnight documentation as directed

2. Individualized Resident Support

  • Assist residents with personal care needs when required (toileting, hygiene, etc.)
  • Support individualized goals as outlined in each Individual Service Plan (ISP)
  • Encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of assistance

3. Health & Safety

  • Follow all agency safety protocols, emergency procedures, and infection control standards
  • Monitor and report any changes in resident condition, behavior, or environment
  • Respond to emergencies calmly and according to training and policy

4. Documentation & Communication

  • Accurately complete all required shift documentation, logs, and incident reports
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding shift events
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold resident rights at all times

5. Household Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the home during overnight hours
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks as needed to ensure a safe environment

6. Professionalism & Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with daytime and other shift staff to ensure continuity of care
  • Attend required trainings and staff meetings as scheduled
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and respect in all interactions

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and bodily fluids
  • Requires ability to remain alert and responsive during overnight hours
  • Work is performed in a residential home setting
