Full job description
This is not a typical job — and it’s not for everyone.
If you’re looking for meaningful work where you can see the impact you make every day, keep reading.
If you’re looking for something easy, predictable, or low-effort, this probably isn’t the right fit.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
As a DSP, you support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. You are part caregiver, part coach, part advocate.
On a typical shift, you will:
- Help people get ready for the day or settle in for the night
- Assist with personal care (bathing, toileting, hygiene, dressing)
- Prepare meals and help with household tasks (laundry, cleaning, dishes)
- Administer medications (after training)
- Transport individuals to appointments, work, or community outings
- Support communication, independence, and personal goals
- Document what happened during your shift in our system
Some moments are fun and rewarding. Others require patience, problem-solving, and emotional control.
The Reality of the Role (Please Read Before Applying)
We want you to know exactly what you’re signing up for.
- This is a 24/7 care environment — you may work evenings, weekends, and some holidays
- You will be on your feet most of the shift, not sitting behind a desk
- You may support individuals who experience behavioral or emotional challenges
- You will be responsible for hands-on care, including lifting and physical assistance
- You are expected to stay engaged and attentive the entire shift
- You will balance building relationships with following strict state regulations and documentation requirements
This work is meaningful—but it can be physically and emotionally demanding.
If you show up consistently, stay patient under pressure, and are willing to learn, you will succeed here.
What You’ll Get in Return
- Clear Pay Growth – Raises tied to training, performance, and experience
- Weekend Differential – +$1.00/hour for weekend shifts
- Career Pathways – Lead Staff, Program Supervisor, and credentialing opportunities
- Benefits – Health, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, 401(k)
- Hands-On Training – You won’t be thrown in alone
- Supportive Team – Supervisors and leads who understand the job
What We’re Looking For
- Reliable — shows up and follows through
- Patient — even on tough days
- Respectful — believes in dignity and choice for all people
- Willing to learn — no experience required, but the attitude matters
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass background checks and clearances
- Ability to complete required training (we provide it)
Final Thought
We’re not just hiring to fill shifts.
We’re building a team of people who take this work seriously—because the people we support deserve consistency, respect, and quality care.
If that sounds like you, apply.
