About Us

Ecomod is on a mission to revolutionize the housing industry by providing modern, sustainable, and affordable housing solutions built from repurposed materials. We are committed to addressing the national housing crisis by creating communities that prioritize innovation, environmental consciousness, and inclusivity. We specialize in a range of modular homes, including Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), single-family/duplex homes, and multi-family units, all built with a focus on affordability, high quality, durability, energy efficiency, and resilience.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Director of Manufacturing Operations to oversee all daily operations of our modular home manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be a decisive leader with a proven track record in manufacturing management, especially within the construction or prefab industry. This role is responsible for ensuring the production of high-quality, sustainable modular units on schedule and within budget, while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management & Efficiency

  • Operational Oversight: Manage and optimize the entire modular home production line, from material staging and component fabrication to final assembly and quality checks.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Implement and enforce lean manufacturing principles to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and continuously improve production workflow.
  • Scheduling: Develop and manage detailed production schedules, ensuring all deadlines are met to align with project timelines and customer delivery dates.
  • Budget Control: Monitor production costs, manage labor hours, and minimize operational expenditures without compromising quality or safety.

Team Leadership & Safety

  • Staff Management: Hire, train, mentor, and manage a diverse team of production supervisors, skilled tradespeople, and general laborers.
  • Safety Compliance: Champion a culture of safety. Ensure strict adherence to all OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
  • Cross-Training: Develop a robust cross-training program to ensure workforce flexibility and mitigate production bottlenecks.

Quality Control & Technical Excellence

  • Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Establish and maintain rigorous quality control checkpoints at every stage of the build process to ensure all modular units meet the high standards of durability, strength, and energy efficiency that Ecomod promises.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all manufactured components and units strictly comply with structural plans, building codes (IBC, local codes), and Ecomod specifications. Work closely with the PE Structural Engineer and project teams.
  • Materials Management: Collaborate with procurement to manage inventory of building materials, ensuring a steady supply and optimal material usage.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 5 years of progressive experience in a production, operations, or manufacturing management role, preferably within the modular/prefab construction, automotive, or heavy manufacturing industry.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a large team in a high-speed, demanding production environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in a factory setting.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil), Construction Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Efficiency Expertise: Demonstrated experience with Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Desired Skills & Attributes

  • Modular Experience: Direct experience managing a production line for modular homes or components is a strong advantage.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly address production issues and maintain flow.
  • Organizational Skills: Superior organizational skills and attention to detail for managing complex schedules and material logistics.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills for coordinating between the production floor, engineering, procurement, and leadership.
  • Commitment to Sustainability: A genuine commitment to sustainable practices and building high-performance, resilient structures.
