Summary

The Economic Development Coordinator coordinates and implements the Town’s Economic Development Program in order to further economic growth and development within the town by assisting the Mayor and Town Manager in evaluating policy areas which are impeding such growth; focusing on opportunities to redevelop key properties; and looking for opportunities to enhance the business districts through capital investment, either through grant funding or the town’s general fund. This individual reports directly to the Town Manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Serves as the Main Street Manager i.e. coordinating activities, facilitating communication, maintain administrative aspects such as budget, reporting, volunteer coordination and managing grant opportunities.

Serve as the contact and administrator for Maryland Enterprise Zone of Snow Hill for Worcester County

Interfaces between Town officials and the business community on special events that impact downtown;

Promotes business recruitment, attraction and retention programs and interface with the business community

Maintain a property inventory with an understanding of zoning and permitting requirements for commercial enterprises.

Actively collaborate with local, State, and Federal agencies, coordinating projects with agencies as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Town Manager.

Evaluates requests for annual business promotion funding and make recommendations to the Mayor as part of annual financial plan cycle;

Serves as lead staff person for preparation of the annual Economic Development Plan program budget as part of the annual financial plan. This includes preparing and maintaining budget activities for office.

Acts as Liaison/Facilitator between Town Manager’s office and the office of Planning, Zoning and Building on certain downtown planning applications;

Communicates and coordinates with the supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups, businesses, individuals and the public on economic development issues, programs, services and plans.

Prepares and submits monthly report to the Town Manager for the Mayor and Council

Performs all duties within O.S.H.A. standards.

Support and enforce the Town of Snow Hill Personnel Rules & Regulations.

Performs other related duties assigned or required.

The position starts at $20.67 per hour and can increase depending on experience.
