Job Summary
The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), a private 501(c) 6 non-profit organization, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Economic Development Manager to lead initiatives that foster economic growth and community prosperity. In this role, you will develop and implement comprehensive economic development strategies, collaborate with local stakeholders, and analyze data to identify opportunities for sustainable development and new policy proposals. Your expertise will drive projects that enhance regional competitiveness, attract investments, and support urban planning efforts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on community vitality through innovative planning, project management, and economic analysis.
Reporting to President & CEO, and in collaboration with the AEDC staff, this important member of the AEDC team will be tasked with:
Duties
- Develop and execute a Community Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) three-year strategic plan aligned with regional goals and priorities
- Revitalize and relaunch the Choose Anchorage initiative to help grow Anchorage’s economy
- Conduct thorough research and data collection to identify economic trends, opportunities, and challenges
- Collaborate with government agencies, business leaders, urban planners, and community organizations to promote economic growth initiatives
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and proposals to communicate project progress and recommendations
- Manage project scheduling, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery of development projects
- Track transportation and civic planning efforts to improve infrastructure supporting economic activity
- Assist with grant writing and reporting, represent AEDC at meetings and public events, and support internal team initiatives as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience in economic development, urban planning, or related fields with a strong understanding of local/regional economies
- Skilled in project management with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Strong data analysis skills with experience in research, data collection, and report writing
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and report presentation
- Ability to interpret complex data sets related to urban planning and economic trends
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in project scheduling and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, finance, economics, or related fields.
- Ability to utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools such as ArcView or ArcGIS for spatial analysis and mapping of economic data
- Knowledge of environmental law, contracts management, construction processes, and transportation planning principles
- Experience developing government policy proposals to support business, economic development or creative financing of community projects.
- Successfully completion of any International Economic Development Council (IEDC) or comparable organization’s professional development training

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
