Position Overview:
Bear Construction, LLC is looking for a full-time Entry-Level Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. In this role, you will operate Compactors, Heavy Haul Trucks, and Skid Steers to support construction projects. Your responsibilities will include safely and efficiently moving materials, assisting with site preparation, and performing general equipment operations according to project requirements. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate compactors, heavy haul trucks, and skid steers safely and efficiently to support construction projects.
- Assist with moving, leveling, and preparing materials and terrain for various construction applications (e.g., roadwork, site preparation, and hauling).
- Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions. Assures the proper operation and maintenance of equipment to the Foreman
- Maintain a high standard of safety, operational excellence, and environmental compliance throughout the project.
- Complete daily logs for fuel, load counts, and hours worked.
- Perform end of day duties, fuel and grease own machine.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:
- Constant physical effort is required during a regular work shift of at least 8 hours per day
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time, as well as stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform duties
- Ability to regularly lift and carry at least 50 pounds and, sometimes, up to 90 pounds
- Physical dexterity involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions
- Ability to remain alert to the multiple simultaneous activities on the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment
- Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in different weather conditions
- Heavy Equipment Operators must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
Work Environment:
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
- Employees are periodically exposed to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that are typically associated with a construction project
- Employees regularly work near heavy equipment and moving machinery
- Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready-mixed concrete
Requirements/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- No prior experience necessary – we will provide full training on operating Compactors, heavy haul trucks, skid steers, and other heavy equipment.
- Strong ability and willingness to learn new skills quickly and apply them intentionally on the job.
- Understand the capabilities of earthwork equipment
- Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with fellow employees
- Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic construction environment with a focus on productivity and safety.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to doing quality work safely.
- A valid driver's license
- High standards of honesty, integrity, and commitment to producing a quality work product
- Extremely detail-oriented and well-organized
- Excellent communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow directions

Base Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
