bloomable Executive Director
We are looking for someone whose heart is to bless the community around them and help empower the needs of local adults with disabilities, whom we call HIPsters (highly important people). We want to make an inclusive community of flourishing both for HIPsters and to bless everyone who comes into the door. This is a well funded and secure startup, where we are looking for someone to lead the design, and management of a cafe in the west arvada area alongside the board and support of several organizations and consultants. bloomable is a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to empower adults with disabilities—called HIPsters—through meaningful employment, community, and hospitality. Bloomable Café is a startup social enterprise designed to provide dignified, joyful jobs for HIPsters while serving as a welcoming gathering place for the local community. Position Summary
The Executive Director (“ED”) serves as the chief executive officer of bloomable café and is responsible for leading the organizational launch, build-out, and successful opening of the café. This includes strategic planning, site readiness, permitting, staffing, fundraising for launch costs, operational development, and public engagement. Once opened, the ED oversees all programming, staff management, HIPster development, fundraising, financial stewardship, and compliance. The ED ensures all activities align with applicable federal, state, and local laws, IRS 501(c)(3) requirements, and policies established by the Board of Directors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. **Organizational Launch & Startup Leadership**
- Lead the full launch process of bloomable café, including timelines, milestones, and Board communication.
- Oversee café build-out, design, inspections, and health/safety compliance.
- Secure necessary licenses, permits, vendor contracts, and regulatory approvals.
- Establish operating systems, training procedures, menu planning, and job-coaching structures.
- Hire and onboard initial staff, volunteers, and HIPsters as the café moves toward opening.
2. **Mission & Culture Leadership**
- Help create and promote bloomable’s values of dignity, joy, empowerment, hospitality, and love.
- Create a culture where HIPsters are celebrated as Highly Important People and supported in meaningful employment.
3. **Café Operations Oversight**
- Oversee daily café operations including food service, hospitality, scheduling, sanitation, and customer experience.
- Ensure continuous program compliance with health, safety, disability-support, and employment regulations.
- Supervise café staff and provide training, coaching, and performance development.
4. **HIPster Employment & Vocational Development**
- Oversee job training, skill development, workplace accommodations, and individualized support plans.
- Ensure HIPsters experience safety, dignity, belonging, and joyful contribution.
5. **Fundraising & Community Engagement** - Only after successful launch
- Lead capital and program fundraising efforts, including major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and community campaigns.
- Cultivate donor relationships and represent bloomable café in the local community.
- Plan and lead launch celebrations, soft openings, and community-awareness events.
6. **Financial Oversight**
- Manage the startup budget, and annual operating budget.
- Maintain financial integrity with accurate reporting.
7. **Governance & Compliance**
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with:
- IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit requirements
- State nonprofit corporation laws
- Employment law and workplace safety
- Health-department and food-service regulations
- Support Board policies and strategic priorities.
Legal & Ethical Responsibilities
- Act in the best interests of bloomable café in accordance with nonprofit fiduciary duties.
- Avoid conflicts of interest and comply with organizational ethics policies.
- Protect confidentiality of HIPsters, employees, and donors.
- Promote nondiscrimination and maintain ADA-aligned practices.
Qualifications
Required:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit management, hospitality, disability services, or social enterprise.
- Startup or launch experience strongly preferred.
- As a Christian nonprofit organization, we require the Executive Director to affirm and actively support our Statement of Faith and mission. The Executive Director must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ and demonstrate a lifestyle consistent with historic Christian belief and practice.
- Ability to lead with compassion, emotional intelligence, and high professionalism.
- Strong operational, administrative, and organizational abilities.
- Experience managing teams and building healthy workplace culture.
- Ability to fundraise, communicate vision, and build community partnerships.
- Café or restaurant operations experience.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Experience with grants, donor development, and launch fundraising.
Working Conditions
- This position requires in-person leadership at bloomable café during launch, build-out, and ongoing operations.
- cafe hours will likely be morning to mid day Tues-Saturday, work may be required for occasional events, donor engagements, or operational needs outside of these hours.
- The role involves light physical activity associated with hospitality and startup environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
