Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead daily operations for our Madison service area. The ideal candidate is motivated, organized and willing to roll up their sleeves to deliver for our customers. Company vehicle and field equipment provided.

Duties & Responsibilities

At the time of hiring, this person will spend ~3 days in the field, ~1 day on sales and ~1 day on Administrative & Leadership Duties. As the location grows the leader will spend less time in the field.

Field Duties

  • Run simple water tests and help homeowners solve water quality issues
  • Install and service water softeners, iron filters and reverse osmosis systems
  • Diagnose and solve issues in existing piping systems and water treatment equipment
  • Recommend and implement replacements or improvements to those systems and/or equipment to correct identified problems

Sales Duties

  • Conduct local sales appointments, equipment demonstrations and estimates
  • Build relationships with current customers, identify upsell opportunities and increase recurring service agreements
  • Develop partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to generate new leads
  • Track sales activity and report progress to leadership

Administrative & Leadership Duties

  • Oversee scheduling, routing, and job planning to maximize team productivity and response times
  • Manage location-level budget items such as inventory, parts, materials and labor hours
  • Complete documentation, reporting and compliance tasks in accordance with company standards
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and coaching of local team members
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient facility and yard, ensuing that vehicles, equipment and inventory are properly maintained and compliant

General Duties

  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and local codes
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with basic computer applications and mobile devices
  • Commitment to quality, safety and customer satisfaction
  • Team player who values respect and reliability
  • Willingness to perform general maintenance including installation of appropriate equipment and devices to ensure proper operation of the equipment and device

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team, not just overseeing an apprentice
  • Comfortable working independently in the field and performing hands-on service work
  • Ability to navigate up/downstairs with equipment and willing to work in confined spaces such as mechanical rooms and basements
  • Experience in home services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed or previously licensed plumber with a strong work ethic
  • If not a plumber, experience in residential water treatment
  • Clean driving record

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $80,000
  • Commissions: Up to $80,000 based on self-performed installation and service work
  • Bonus: Up to $50,000 based on sales and profit of Madison area location
