Healthy Start Program Assistant (Remote)- Bilingual Spanish Preferred
Family Empowerment Project
Pay: $18.00–$22.00/hour | Full-Time | Non-Exempt 401k, Health Insurance and PTO,
Are you passionate about supporting families and making a meaningful impact in maternal and child health? The Family Empowerment Project is seeking a compassionate and organized Healthy Start Program Assistant to serve as a key connection point for families entering our program.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and is committed to empowering families through supportive, strengths-based engagement.
About the Role
As a Healthy Start Program Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for families referred to our program. All clients have already requested services—there is no cold calling involved. Your primary responsibility will be reaching out to families, building rapport, and scheduling their first visit with our Healthy Start Home Visitation Staff.
You’ll play a critical role in ensuring a smooth and welcoming entry into a program designed to support maternal and child health, promote family well-being, and empower families to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the initial point of contact for Healthy Start referrals with professionalism and compassion
- Contact referred clients (who have already opted into services) to schedule their first assessment
- Assess basic needs and assign families to Care Coordinators based on location
- Maintain consistent, respectful communication via phone, email, and virtual platforms
- Document client interactions and compose correspondence in accordance with program guidelines
- Coordinate closely with Home Visitors, Connect personnel, and leadership to ensure seamless service delivery
- Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high productivity standards
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities
- Support quality initiatives as part of the Quality Assurance Department
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED required, Associate's Degree Preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in public health, social services, human services, or maternal/child health
- Strong communication skills, especially over the phone
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently in a remote environment
- Comfort with technology, including Google Workspace and office applications
- A compassionate, client-centered approach and commitment to empowering families
- Bilingual in Spanish - Preferred
