Job Overview

Curio Wine Bistro and Bar, located in Downtown Fredericksburg, is opening a new sit-down restaurant and is seeking friendly, energetic, and professional part-time hosts who are passionate about wine and how it complements food. Curio will offer a unique experience with detailed food and wine pairings alongside traditional cocktails and beer.

The ideal host will be organized, willing to learn about wine and discuss with customers, and able to organize the flow of walk-ins while managing reservations. This is a part-time position of approximately 6-12 hours each week (1-2 shifts per week).

Staff members also enjoy a generous staff discount and are paid weekly. There will not be tip compensation for this position.

Essential Duties

• Greet guests upon arrival and bid them farewell upon departure.
• Provide excellent service while managing bookings via phone, online platforms, or in-person walk-ins, and maintaining a waitlist during busy times with accurate wait time estimates.
• Escort guests to tables, distribute menus, and provide special accommodations as needed.
• Ensure the entryway, lobby, and host stand are clean, tidy, and organized.
• Communicate with guests regarding their experience, inform servers of new parties, assist with cleaning/bussing tables during rushes, and manage to-go orders.
• Maintain familiarity with the food and beverage menu to answer customer inquiries about daily specials or dietary restrictions.

Job Requirements & Skills

• Must be 18 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States.
• One year of hospitality experience is required.
• Availability to work one to two shifts per week; priority will be on weekend hours
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to learn new things and work both independently and as a team player.
• Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, squat, lift 40 lbs, and go up and down stairs repeatedly. Curio operates across multiple floors, and this position will move between levels throughout each shift.
• Must maintain high standards of cleanliness and follow safety and compliance regulations.
• Have reliable transportation
