Position Description: Housekeeper

Hourly: Starts at $15.00/hour Position is part time; 4-8 hours/week
Pay Schedule: Pay period is from Wednesday through Tuesday
Schedule & Working Hours: Sundays and/or Mondays ~4 hours shifts
Position is available as W2 Employee or 1099 Contractor

Mulberry Gap serves as a rustic haven in the beautiful southern Appalachian Mountains for Mountain Bikers, Hikers, Trail Runners, and all outdoor enthusiasts! Often described as a year round “summer camp for adults,” we offer outdoor enthusiasts of all ages an adventurous home away from home. We provide cabins and campsite stays, special events, clinics & instruction, shuttles to trailheads, and venue rental for weddings or other large events. We’re known for our amazing mountain bike trails, southern hospitality, and home cooked meals. Mulberry Gap is made up of a friendly and adventurous team who work hard to ensure the happiness of our guests. Working Hours:
- This position will generally see 4-8 hours per week.
- Sundays ~11am-3pm or ~12pm-4pm
- Mondays ~10am-2pm or ~11am-3pm
- If it was a busy week or a long holiday weekend, working longer hours or occasional Tuesdays might also be available.
- The number of hours, especially on Monday/Tuesday, is dependent upon how busy our weekend was. Sometimes the tasks will take just the Sunday hours, other times, Sunday and Monday, and yet other times, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
- Start and end times are flexible by one to two hours to accommodate folks who have school pick up/drop off, church on Sunday, etc.
Driving:
- Driving is a required element of this role. To be eligible to drive you must be at least 25 years of age and successfully complete a driver's record check to be added to our insurance. A major component of this position is transporting bags of clean and dirty linens, back-and-forth between the laundry room and the cabins.
Job Description:
Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Follow cleaning checklists for all areas.
- Clean interior of cabins and bathhouses.
- Strip used items and fully restock for new arrivals.
- Clean rugs and wipe down furniture.
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Dust furniture, blinds, shelves, and equipment.
- Empty wastebaskets.
- Replace light bulbs as necessary.
- Wash or wipe down interior windows, walls, and ceilings as necessary.
- Clean exterior of cabins and bathhouses.
- Removing spider webs, sweeping leaves of decks, etc.
- Wash or wipe down exterior windows and walls.
- Assist with laundering of sheets, robes, blankets, towels, by sorting linens and other articles, load washing machines, dryers, folding items, and storing in appropriate locations.
- Clean and restock paper products in common areas; retail store, dining hall, and restrooms/bathhouses.
- Transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Keep storage areas well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Inform Management of low supplies and stock on hand requirements.
- Observe precautions required to protect company and guest property, report damage, or theft, and found articles to supervisors.
- Must be willing to undergo a drug test.
- Must have a clear background check.
- Have a friendly disposition during customer interactions.
- Keep calm while faced with challenging circumstances and guests.
- A respect for guest confidentiality.
- A positive team-player attitude.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Background in janitorial or hospitality fields.
- Must demonstrate responsibility, friendliness, and proper grooming.
- At least 18 years of age. (Age 25 with current drivers license and good driving record preferred.)
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Walk through the grounds and buildings to ensure they’re clean and presentable.
- Note: Mulberry Gap provides all cleaning supplies & equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires continuous sitting or bending, eye/hand coordination, near vision, hearing, and speech.
- Requires frequent kneeling, manual dexterity, gross motor skills, and color definition.
- Must be able to walk over 3 miles per day over uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stretch, reach, climb to make various styles of beds.
- Must be able to climb a stepladder up to 6 feet in height.
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures throughout various seasons.
- Must be able to walk up and down a grade of 14%.
- After the standard 90-day review period, opportunities for more hours and responsibilities may be discussed.
- Pay: $15/hour
