Job Overview
The Inventory Specialist plays a critical role in supporting operations and production by ensuring accurate inventory control, proper material handling, and timely flow of materials throughout the organization. This role’s primary function is Receiving, with additional support provided to SMT inventory and Through Hole inventory.
Each Inventory Specialist is assigned a primary functional area and is expected to take ownership of inventory accuracy, organization, and material flow within that area. While maintaining this ownership, team members are cross-trained and support other areas as needed based on business priorities.
Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and a team-oriented mindset to ensure materials move efficiently and production needs are consistently met.
Primary Responsibilities
Inventory & Material Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records through proper system transactions and traceability
- Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and organized
- Maintain documentation for all material movements
- Follow material handling requirements (including ESD and moisture-sensitive controls, as applicable)
- Identify, communicate, and help resolve inventory discrepancies
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory accuracy and material flow
- Take ownership of inventory accuracy within assigned area
Systems & Process Compliance
- Use ERP and paperless inventory systems to accurately transact material movements
- Follow established procedures, work instructions, and IPC guidelines
- Maintain compliance with all inventory control and quality requirements
General Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Communicate issues, discrepancies, or improvement ideas in a timely manner
- Provide support across SMT Inventory, Through-Hole Inventory, and Receiving as needed based on business needs and training
- Complete additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned
Primary Functional Area Responsibilities
Each Inventory Specialist is assigned a primary functional area and is responsible for maintaining ownership of inventory accuracy, organization, and material flow within that area.
SMT Inventory
- Operate X-ray parts counting equipment to verify quantities
- Process parts returned from production and ensure accurate put-away
- Perform cycle counting as assigned
- Assist with SMT cart and feeder tear-down
- Pull and stage materials based on work orders and production needs
- Prioritize material requests based on production schedules and operational urgency
- Support SMT kitting, feeder setup, and overall material flow to ensure timely production and minimize delays
Through-Hole Inventory
- Pick, pull, and kit materials based on work orders and production schedules
- Verify component quantities and ensure accuracy of kits
- Identify and communicate material shortages or discrepancies
- Stage materials to support production readiness
- Ensure kits are complete, accurate, and delivered on time
- Coordinate with production teams to resolve shortages or issues
- Support efficient material flow to prevent downtime
Receiving
- Receive incoming materials and verify against packing slips and purchase orders
- Inspect materials for accuracy, damage, and compliance with requirements
- Label and route materials to appropriate inventory or production locations
- Maintain receiving documentation and ensure traceability
- Communicate discrepancies or issues with incoming materials to appropriate teams
Key Requirements
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs; frequently lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching required.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment (or willingness to be trained)
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience in inventory, receiving, or material handling in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
