Full job description
SUMMARY
This position ensures that routine maintenance and repairs on, and within all buildings of the district are
performed accurately and efficiently to keep them in optimal working condition.
DUTIES
1. Repair, replace, or reassemble defective equipment using hand and power tools.
2. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines and equipment continue to run
smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings do not
deteriorate.
3. Perform routine maintenance actions that include inspecting drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels,
and replace filters following standard checklists.
4. Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed, including costs associated with each.
5. Establish and recommend priorities on repair projects.
6. Inspect work and assist other staff members to complete jobs.
7. Inspect, operate, and test machinery in order to detect mechanical problems.
8. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them using blueprints, repair manuals, and
parts catalogs as necessary.
9. Review work orders, check drawings and plans.
10. Develop and maintain a system for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency.
11. Responsible for basic lawn maintenance including mowing and snow plowing.
12. Observe and follow all safety regulations to ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements.
13. Order materials as needed and make recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase.
14. Instruct custodians on proper methods of procedure and proper use of tools and equipment used in repair
and maintenance work.
15. Does major repairs/work on electrical, plumbing, carpentry and roofs that cannot be done by custodians.
16. Advise on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services.
17. Consult with building principals regarding the establishment of regular preventative maintenance
programs.
18. Perform any other duties as assigned by administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School diploma or equivalent required.
2. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
3. 2-5 Years experience in building maintenance and repair, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
4. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
5. Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
6. Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
7. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
8. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
9. Must be able to push and pull up to 40 lbs.

SCHEDULING
The schedule is subject to change with time of year and district demands, 260 days per year. Overtime is
required when requested.
Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
