Operations Technician - Erie, PA
PAY: Starting at $17/Hour
SHIFT: Swing Shift 7AM-7PM
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- 1. Move control settings to make necessary adjustments on equipment units affecting speeds of chemical reactions, quality, and yields.
- 2. Monitor recording instruments, flowmeters, panel lights, and other indicators, and listen for warning signals, in order to verify conformity of process conditions.
- 3. Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines, using panelboards, control boards, or semi-automatic equipment.
- 4. Record operating data such as process conditions, test results, and instrument readings.
- 5. Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality.
- 6. Draw samples of products, and conduct quality control tests in order to monitor processing, and to ensure that standards are met.
- 7. Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations, as directed by supervisory personnel.
- 8. Patrol work areas to ensure proper plant operation.
- 9. Inspect operating units such as cooling tower, storage tanks, vessels, and heat exchangers to ensure that all are functioning, and to maintain maximum efficiency.
- 10. Turn valves to regulate flow of products or byproducts through pipes, tanks, and vessels.
- 11. Calculate material requirements or yields according to formulas.
- 12. Perform simple preventive maintenance on equipment.
- 13. Defrost frozen valves, using steam hoses.
- 14. Maintain designated sanitary schedule to HBX standards.
- 15. Access tanks, vessels, and equipment for maintenance and sampling purposes.
- 16. Become boiler certified, if not already. Train as needed to become certified within a reasonable timeframe.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education – High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Experience – Experience in a production or manufacturing setting with a light mechanical background and boiler experience and or certifications preferred or willingness to obtain boiler certificate required. Additionally, basic Windows based computer knowledge required.
