Job Summary
The Park Attendant supports the operation, safety, and upkeep of public parks and recreational facilities. The role combines customer service, safety monitoring, and facility cleanliness to ensure a welcoming and safe park experience for residents and visitors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as a visible, friendly point of contact for park visitors; greet and assist the public with questions and directions.
- Monitor Park and recreation areas for safety hazards, cleanliness, and proper use; report issues to supervisors or proper authorities as needed.
- Open and close park facilities, such as restrooms, and other designated times.
- Clean and maintain park grounds — remove litter, empty trash/recycling bins, tidy common areas.
- Lock/unlock facilities and provide support for rentals, group reservations, or special events.
- Perform routine inspection and minor maintenance tasks (e.g., restroom supplies, simple repairs). Notify supervisor of any needs.
- Assist at community events held in parks as designated by supervisor.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of safety practices and park operations.
- Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and with a team.
- Must be able to clear criminal background, child abuse history check, and FBI clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in parks, recreation, customer service, or related work.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle, valid PA Driver License required.
Working Conditions
- Required working hours include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Work involves standing, walking long distances, lifting, and performing light physical tasks.
