MiGen Michigan LGBTQ+ Elders Network is Michigan’s only nonprofit dedicated to services and advocacy for LGBTQ+ maturing and older adults, their loved ones and caregivers. Position Description:
This position is an integral part of the No Wrong Door team as they are responsible for Person Centered Options Counseling (PCOC) implementation, data and administrative needs within the No Wrong Door department including day to day execution and coordination of appointments, referrals and volunteers, with guidance from the No Wrong Door Director and support from the volunteer coordinator and executive coordinator. No Wrong Door team areas of focus include Person Centered Options Counseling (PCOC) as well as State Health Insurance Assistance Programs/Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (SHIP/MIPPA) services. Though MiGen staff work a hybrid and flexible model, this position may require occasional evening and weekend hours based upon client needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete training related to person centered options counseling; cross train in SHIP/MIPPA
- Train volunteers and partners to provide person centered options counseling
- Provide Person Centered Options Counseling and provide oversight and supervision to PCOC volunteers and partners, including assigning clients, ensuring follow-up is completed within 24 business hours, and reviewing case plans
- Use a person-centered approach to conduct personal interviews with clients to develop person-centered action plans to assist clients in navigating care options
- Facilitate referrals and access to public and private supportive programs
- Complete benefit applications with clients as needed
- Follow-up with clients to ensure enactment of person-centered action plan, or to develop adjustments to plans as needed
- Provide education to community regarding long-term care options, benefits for older adults, and other community based services
- Research existing benefits and resources for older adults or persons with disabilities
Requirements and Characteristics:
- At least 2 years experience in progressively more responsible program implementation
- Experience and comfort with data systems and reporting
- Volunteer management experience as well as the experience implementing training programs
- Demonstrated commitment to working with and supporting LGBTQ+ communities
- A collaborative spirit focused on trial and error and trying new things
- Takes ownership and initiative and demonstrates follow-through
- Demonstrated experience working remotely or in a hybrid environment
- Celebrates achievement through doing and achieving quantitative and qualitative results
- May need to travel and have the ability to perform work in person on a flexible basis as needed at partner locations
Compensation: This is a Band I, exempt position with a salary range of $37-52k annually. Candidates should anticipate offers closer to the beginning range amount; additionally, full time employees also receive up to 20% of their salary to apply toward benefits.

Supervision: The PCOC Coordinator is a full-time position and is supervised by the No Wrong Door Director
