Playscape Manager

Murphy Arts District

Position Summary

The Murphy Arts District (MAD) is seeking an energetic, hands-on, and community-minded Playscape Manager to oversee operations of our two-acre, state-of-the-art Playscape and seasonal splash pad.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, dependable team leader who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a lively environment, and takes pride in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and engaging space for families and visitors.

This position requires regular weekday and weekend work and is primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Site Management

  • Oversee daily operations of the Playscape and splash pad
  • Ensure the Playscape is clean, safe, and fully operational at all times
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and MAD policies

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, train, and support Playscape staff
  • Work alongside employees in daily operational and maintenance tasks
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work culture
  • Lead staff scheduling efforts and coverage planning

Maintenance & Facilities Support

  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance tasks that may include minor repairs, light landscaping, cleaning, and equipment upkeep
  • Monitor splash pad systems during active and inactive seasons
  • Support simple maintenance needs throughout other areas of MAD as assigned

Vendor & Project Coordination

  • Coordinate, manage, and serve as primary point of contact for vendors and contractors
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and service calls
  • Work in a key role with implementation of community projects and MAD initiatives
  • Support special events and programming within the district

Community Engagement

  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors
  • Address visitor concerns professionally and promptly
  • Represent MAD in a positive and welcoming manner

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certifications in facilities, maintenance, recreation, or related fields preferred
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
  • Basic maintenance and repair skills required
  • Experience managing vendors or contractors preferred
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical labor daily
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Flexible availability, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Primarily outdoor work environment
  • Standing, walking, lifting, bending, and physical activity throughout the shift
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Hands-on, active role alongside staff

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
