Role Summary:

The Sales Shift Lead is a frontline retail, brand, and operations support role that performs core budtender duties while serving as an on-shift resource for routine customer service, inventory, product flow, brand presentation, operational, and compliance matters. This position is responsible for delivering an excellent customer experience; supporting store operations through sales, customer assistance, inventory-related tasks, receiving, product organization, inventory tracking, and other operational duties; assisting with peer training and reinforcement of company procedures; supporting daily dispensary compliance; maintaining strong in-store brand presentation; helping ensure products are properly labeled, stored, and accounted for; and promptly elevating disciplinary, personnel, operational, inventory, or compliance concerns to the General Manager or District Manager, as appropriate.

In this role, the Sales Shift Lead helps reinforce Illinois cannabis regulatory requirements, company policies, and store procedures during assigned shifts. The position may answer team member questions, assist with routine issue resolution, support opening and closing procedures, help maintain product availability and inventory accuracy, help monitor inventory levels and discrepancies, support audits, and help coordinate communication when the General Manager is not on site. During shifts when the General Manager is not on site, the Sales Shift Lead may serve as the on-site communication point for routine store matters, including communications with team members, company leadership, vendors, and regulatory representatives as needed.

Shift Lead Responsibilities:

  • Greet and engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, acting as a knowledgeable and approachable resource.
  • Answer questions and provide information about cannabis products, making recommendations based on customer preferences, needs, and desired effects.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cannabis strains, products, and consumption methods.
  • Understand the differences between various strains (indica, sativa, hybrid) and their effects; educate customers on proper dosage and consumption methods.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Help train staff on compliance procedures, including age verification and product handling.
  • Oversee inventory levels and maintain accurate records of product quantities; monitor product quality and report any issues to management.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to replenish stock and ensure a diverse product selection; ensure products are properly labeled and stored.
  • Complete and submit required reports and documentation in accordance with State and company regulations.
  • Collaborate with management and marketing teams to develop and implement sales and marketing strategies.
  • Support training and coaching of budtenders on product knowledge, customer experience standards, and routine procedures during shifts.
  • During assigned shifts when the General Manager is not on duty, serve as the designated on-site contact for company leadership and regulatory representatives, while escalating significant issues in accordance with company procedures.
  • Escalate operational, employee, or compliance issues to the General Manager as appropriate.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dispensary.
  • Additional duties as assigned by company leadership.
  • The role does not include authority to hire, fire, discipline, promote, demote, set pay, approve raises, make scheduling decisions, or make recommendations regarding employment status that are given particular weight.

Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of retail, customer service, cannabis, merchandising, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting store operations, training, merchandising, or shift execution in a retail environment preferred.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, heavily regulated environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, follow direction, and work with professionalism and reliability.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be 21 years of age and able to satisfy all State-required background qualifications.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship
