The Senior Manager, Development provides strategic leadership for fundraising, grant acquisition, and development communications for the organization. Working in close partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and cross-functional staff, this role advances the organization’s mission by securing diverse revenue streams, stewarding key relationships, and ensuring alignment between development strategies, communications, and program impact.

Core Responsibilities
Grant Writing & Development
- Build, maintain, and elevate impactful relationships with key donors, sponsors, volunteers and community partners to ensure revenue goal achievement and foster long-term engagement.
- Work with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to develop and implement the fundraising priorities and strategies in alignment with the mission and purpose of the organization.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors fund development committee to implement the fundraising plan.
- Collaborate with the marketing & communications team to develop and implement fundraising strategy, including digital strategies.
- Steward and maintain relationships with existing donors while continuously building a pipeline and securing new donors.
- Ensure a high-quality event experience through oversight of detailed planning and timeline management, logistics, volunteer recruitment and management, brand positioning, budgeting, and vendor relationships.
- Collaborate with administrative and finance partners to ensure timely and accurate data entry and gift processing.
- Lead grant proposal development and submissions writing narrative and developing budgets, preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications.
- Track deadlines, reapplication dates, and other information through effective management of the grant calendar.
- Ensure close collaboration with program managers and finance staff on the development and implementation of contract deliverables and budgets. Oversee implementation of grant deliverables and reporting according to contract agreements.
- Ensures that acknowledgement letters and reports are submitted in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with Senior Director of Construction and Community Relations and financestaff to ensure that guaranteed donor benefits are tracked and awarded.
- Produce collateral materials for outreach.
- Represent H4F within the community by attending community events.
- Contribute timely content for the website and recurring newsletters.
- Work with marketing and communications to design, develop, execute, and monitorfundraising appeals.
- Develop and work with marketing and communications to distribute press releases andmedia advisories for events and organizational news.
- Support marketing and communications for press coverage, including archiving, uploading video footage to YouTube and website, and distributing to Board and major funders.
Volunteer & Board Engagement
- Recruit, engage and mobilize executives and leadership volunteers to support fundraising efforts, with a focus on event chairpersons and event leadership teams.
- Develop and provide CEO and board ongoing fundraising progress reports.
- Research and prepare data for presentation at board meetings for CEO’s review andconsideration.
- Support coordination of board member schedules and ensure quorums for boardmeetings.
- Compile the agenda, collect materials, attend, and record minutes at the board meeting.
- Collaborate with board members in fundraising capacity including management of the board fund development committee.
Government Relations
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal government offices, strengthening support for organizational priorities and expanding opportunities for funding and collaboration.
- Lead preparation, submission, and stewardship of government grant proposals and compliance reports, securing funding and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Represent the organization, advocating for mission-aligned programs and elevating the nonprofit’s visibility among public-sector stakeholders.

- Strategic Fundraising & Revenue Leadership: Ability to design and lead diversified fundraising strategies aligned with organizational mission and growth goals, including institutional, corporate, individual, and government funding.
- Grants & Institutional Funding Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of the full grant lifecycle, from prospect development and proposal strategy through compliance, reporting, and renewal.
- Executive & Board Partnership: Proven ability to collaborate with executive leadership and the Board of Directors, providing strategic guidance, clear reporting, and support for board-led fundraising efforts.
- Government Relations & Public Funding: Experience cultivating relationships with local, state, and federal stakeholders and navigating public funding processes, compliance, and advocacy.
- Relationship Building & Stewardship: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build, steward, and sustain long-term relationships with funders, sponsors, and community partners.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across program, finance, and communications teams to align fundraising strategy with program outcomes, budgets, and messaging.
- Development Communications & Messaging: Strong written and strategic communication skills, with experience integrating fundraising priorities into donor communications, appeals, and public-facing content.
Physical and Working Conditions
- This position operates in a professional office environment, with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
- Some lifting as part of event set up activities
- In market travel required to attend meetings, events, or community engagements,limited outside travel for trainings, conferences and replication efforts
- Must be able to attend evening and weekend meetings, events and programs.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years successful experience in fundraising, grant writing, corporate engagement, volunteer partnership, and relationship development
- Ability to inspire commitment and action in a mission-centric, fast-paced environment
- University/College degree
- Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving
- Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office
Expected pay range will be $70,500 to $86,000 annually. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to experience, skills, specialty, and education. Homes 4 Families reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
