ABOUT BRIGHTON HOUSING AUTHORITY:

Since the Brighton Housing Authority’s (BHA’s) incorporation in 1968, it has been the organization’s community role to facilitate the alignment of available resources with community needs through the promotion, management, and development of attainable housing. In addition to BHA’s administration of the city of Brighton’s Section 8 Voucher program, BHA is committed to providing programs and services that address the area's housing needs and related issues.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Service Programs Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the implementation of BHA’s initiative of Supervising the progression of positive social outcomes through the administration of innovative community services. The position will lead BHA staff in designing, implementing, and evaluating housing and related services for the city of Brighton and surrounding area community residents.

The Service Programs Supervisor will work closely with community members, organizations, and businesses to develop and maintain partnerships necessary to deliver critical community services. The position will focus on defining and formalizing current services, and designing new programs targeted towards addressing community needs to ensure housing stability and self-sufficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise the Service Programs Team in goal setting, performance evaluation, training and development, feedback and coaching, and overall support.
  • Lead the development and implementation of service programs, related tools, and outcome metrics to expand program offerings to meet identified community needs.
  • Provide input in the development of the Services budget, monitor and report on variances.
  • Research to identify grant opportunities and assist with grant writing.
  • Design and implement evaluation tools to assess the quality of services and client satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, participants, community partners, and the public.
  • Locate, develop, and maintain networks and partnerships with relevant service providers, community organizations, businesses, and educational institutions.
  • Work closely with city, county, and state officials to maximize resources and collaborate on shared programming initiatives.
  • Actively participate in BHA’s short-term and long-term strategic planning, ensuring alignment with the Services department goals and objectives
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises the staff members of the Services Department, as well as interns and volunteers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training related to the provision of services addressing housing and related needs.
  • Minimum of two years of experience developing programs
  • Minimum of three years of experience providing services related to housing or shelter to individuals and/or families.
  • Minimum of two years of experience successfully leading and supervising others.
  • Training or experience in working with housing programs and related services.
  • Demonstrated understanding of grants management.
  • Crisis and mental health experiences are helpful.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Fluency in Spanish is required
  • Comfortable working with diverse populations to solve problems and build consensus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking skills, ability to solve and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform high-quality work using independent judgment and personal initiative.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining organized and focused so that tasks are completed and deadlines are met.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of conflict resolution and interpersonal communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and supervise volunteers and interns.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish trusting, confidential relationships.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as required.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (NOT REQUIRED)

  • Basic knowledge of the Fair Housing practices, Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program, and/or the purpose of Public Housing Authorities.
  • Knowledge of various community services.
  • Experience with HUD rules and regulations as related to participant paperwork, privacy issues and communication of housing authority programs to participants and prospective participants.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License and vehicle insurance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
