Shop Operations Manager – CNC Machining & Programming
Location: Franklin Machine Shop – Hampton, VA
Overview:
Seeking a hands-on leader to serve as Shop Operations Manager, overseeing the entire CNC machining operation. Must have proven experience managing operators and providing programs — if you haven’t done this before, do not apply. If you can’t take a raw piece of material and produce a finished part on your own, this isn’t for you.
Key Responsibilities:
· Full responsibility for daily shop operations.
· Program CNC mills and/or lathes using EIA/ISO G-code.
· Mastercam experience preferred; Mazatrol is a plus.
· Set up, prove out, and run jobs from start to finish.
· Supervise, train, and manage operators.
· Provide accurate, efficient programs to operators.
· Oversee workflow, job priorities, and scheduling.
· Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T.
· Select tooling, optimize setups, and improve processes.
· Inspect parts to tight tolerances using precision measuring equipment.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Requirements:
· Minimum 10 years’ experience in CNC machining/programming.
· Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:00 PM, with Saturdays required as needed to meet production demands.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
