Full job description
Program: Short Term Respite (STR)
Position: Youth Respite Mentor
Reports to: Program Director or Program Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Gulf Coast Social Services is seeking candidates to fill part-time Youth Respite Mentor positions throughout the region. The Youth Respite Mentor Program is designed to give primary caregivers of children with behavioral, psychological, and/or emotional disorders brief periods of respite, usually 3-4 hours, after school hours and on weekends.
The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent or a trade school diploma in the area of human services. A minimum of 1 year experience working with children with behavioral, psychological, or emotional disorders and/or experience working in human services, childcare, education, or a related field preferred.
Applicants must pass a drug screen, criminal background check, and a LA OMV record check. Applicants must also possess a valid driver’s license per Louisiana law, current auto liability insurance and have access to a reliable vehicle that in a safe operating condition, properly registered and inspected.
This position cover the current parishes: Cameron, Calcasieu, Jefferson Davis, Allen, and Beauregard
