Departments: Prepping
Position Type: Full Time
Hours: 40 hrs p/wk
Primary Purpose:
1. To ensure that products flow into the production cycle in a timely manner and act as support for the powder coater.
Primary Duties:
1. To prepare parts for powder coating.
2. Operate & maintain Washer.
PPE Required:
1. Eye & Ear Protection.
2. Gloves (Nitrile or Latex)
Prepping Job Description
Reports To: Shop Floor Supervisor
1. Reference daily schedule in order to understand production priorities.
2. Review work-orders before production begins to ensure that all information is present and accurate and that any special instructions are attended to.
a. Any special instructions should be read and clearly understood before production begins.
3. Stage parts in order of scheduled priority.
4. Prep hooks, fixtures, and/or carts to remove powder from the area that will be in contact with the part.
5. Prep parts according work-order specifications
a. Prepping the parts may include: manual or automated washing, Scotchbriting the surface, sanding, and/or wiping down the parts.
6. Hang or set the parts from pre-designated locations on the part.
a. In some instances a hole may need to be drilled in the part in order to hang it. The prepper must receive approval from manager before drilling.
7. Move the parts from the wash station to the oven to dry. Most jobs 10-15 minutes.
8. Operate Washer and maintain water levels, titration’s & log book per CPC-TD-007 & CPC-TD-077.1.
9. Operate Oven 1, 2, and/or 3 as needed.
10. Plug or mask parts as specified on the work-order.
11. Count the parts and enter correct prep time & quantity on the work-order (CPC-00-015).
12. Move the work-orders for jobs that have been taken to the powder coater and place them on the powder coating clipboard on the proper line.
13. Remove parts from the oven as specified by the work-order and/or the powder coater.
14. Run parts until the production schedule has been completed.
a. Communicate any problems or production issues with the Shop Floor Supervisor as they arise throughout the day.
b. Report any and all unsafe acts or hazard.
15. Complete the daily housekeeping and maintenance duties that are specified on the “housekeeping and maintenance checklist” at the end of each shift.
a. Checklists are to be turned in to the Shop Floor Supervisor at the end of each month and a new checklist is to be placed on the prepping clipboard. (ref: CPC-MT-002)
16. Empty rag buckets as necessary/ beadblast collection bin.
17. Coordinate with QC department for return of hooks/tools to be distributed per departments as needed.

- Forklift Training
- LOTO Training
- Understanding of Work Flow Process
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to lift 35lbs.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
