Full job description
Harris County Emergency Services District No. 46 (HCESD No. 46) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Fire Lieutenant. This is a full-time, FLSA- 207k, hourly position.
Work Schedule
48/96 Rotation (48 hours on, 96 hours off)
Compensation Package
- Starting annual income: $75,575. Lieutenant pay range: $75,575- $134,070
- Health, dental and vision insurance, 100% paid premium for employee, 80% paid
premium for dependents
- Monthly department paid HSA/HRA contribution
- Life insurance, 100% paid premium for employee (1x annual salary + $50,000)
- TCDRS retirement, 7% employee contribution, 250% employer match
- Short and Long Term Disability
- Paid Time Off (PTO), accumulated per pay cycle
- Paid Sick Time, 144 hours a year
- Nine paid holidays
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Three years of structural fire service experience, in a career, combination or volunteer department
- Texas DSHS certification as an EMT or higher
- Valid Texas Class B Driver License
- TCFP Basic Firefighter
- TCFP Fire Officer I
- TCFP Instructor I with Field Examiner endorsement
- TCFP Incident Safety Officer
- TCFP Driver/Operator Pumper
- TCFP Driver/Operator Aerial
- Courage to be Safe (preferred)
- Traffic Incident Management (preferred)
- Cancer Awareness (preferred)
- NIMS 100.C, 200.C, 700.B and 800.d certifications required

Schedule of Events

- Offer to be made by end of the day Monday, February 23, 2026 or sooner
- New Hire Orientation/start date for successful candidates: Tuesday, March 24- Saturday, March 28, 8-5pm each day.
