Full job description

To assist members with their financial transactions promptly and professionally; involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable items, identifying opportunities to improve our member’s financial well-being by cross-selling credit union products and services and to provide exceptional service and strive for member satisfaction in every transaction.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

65% – Receives and processes member financial transactions, including but not limited to, deposits, withdrawals and loan payments. Answering phones and supporting member information requests. Posts ATM and Night Drop deposits. Mitigates risk to the credit union by placing appropriate check holds according to regulations.

15% – Cross sells credit union products and services and promotes events and specials. Provides routine account information and services to the limits of assigned authority. Basic file maintenance requests such as address and phone number changes and debit card related requests. May also, refer members to subject matter experts as needed.

10% – Other duties as assigned. These may include but are not limited to: branch balancing, coin machine balancing, balancing VISA terminal, dual control functions, and facilitating shared branching transactions.

5% – Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.

5% – Participate in training and staff meetings.

Expectations:

1. SERVICE: (35%) Provide our members with consistent, quality service that is above average and exceeds expectations. Accept feedback and assume accountability for ensuring the member experience exceeds expectations.

2. SALES: (10%) Participation in sales promotions, business development activities, sales activities. Support marketing efforts to promote new and existing products and services.

3. QUALITY & QUANTITY: (30%) Balance speed and efficiency. Measured by transactions per hour, monthly overs and shorts, and problem resolution reporting. Fully utilize systems. Balance at least 95% of the time, being no more than $100.00 off and with total offages not to exceed $249.99 in a 12 month period. Have no more than one posting error per month.

4. RISK: (10%) To minimize losses due to fraudulent activities by complying with the policies and procedures applicable to member accounts and negotiable items. Comply with all applicable regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act.

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE: (10%) Continue to grow and develop in your role through self‑development.Self‑development initiatives include staying informed of changes, cross train in your department, study the product manual, and keep current with updated fact sheets. Take advantage of learning opportunities that the credit union offers.

6. TEAMWORK: (5%) Demonstrate reliability by minimizing unscheduled absences and late arrivals. Demonstrate flexibility by assisting others and working at other locations as needed. Foster teamwork within your work group by adhering to DVFCU's core values; Adaptable, Compassionate, Trusted, Dedicated, Accountable, and Mentor.

Education/Experience Required:

Six months to two years of similar or related experience working with the public. Cash handling or prior customer service experience preferred. A high school education or GED. Ten key calculator and computer keyboard by touch. Must be good with detail to deal with numbers and names. Familiarity with MS Word and MS Excel and ability to navigate between multiple windows simultaneously.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must occasionally lift/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Contact with others, primarily face‑to‑face or by phone within a small workspace. Works closely as a team with 4‑5 co‑workers. Candidate should expect repetition of the types of transactions performed daily. May be asked to travel to other branch locations as needs arise.
