The right candidate will have experience in surgical monitoring and preparation. High volume experience is a huge plus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinic Operations & Oversight

  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all medical areas (reception, prep, surgery suite, recovery).
  • Have knowledge of surgical protocols including emergency drug protocols, manual heart rate monitoring, intubate and other surgical prep.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Support clear communication and compassionate interactions with rescue partners, fosters, and adopters.

Veterinary Technician Duties

  • Assist veterinarians with patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and general medical procedures.
  • Provide safe and humane animal handling at all times.
  • Preparing patients and instruments for surgery
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Recording accurate patient histories and medical records

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter clinic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical equipment, medications, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with controlled substance handling and DEA/Texas requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work one weekend day and maintain a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Team‑oriented, reliable, and professional demeanor

PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to safely handle and restrain animals, including large dogs and fractious cats.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Exposure to animals, cleaning agents, and veterinary medications.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Full-time, exempt position (minimum 40 hours per week).
  • Competitive pay commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits package offered including health benefits, paid vacation time, 401K (no match) and 5 sick/personal days per year.

NATURE OF EMPLOYMENT

This role requires on-site presence exclusively, with no remote or hybrid arrangements available. It's a full-time commitment and may entail flexible hours/days due to events, with possible work on holidays. HPA! is searching for a dedicated and dependable team member who aligns with our mission. Our workplace fosters collaboration, inclusivity, and engagement. While we're passionate about animals, our approach is strategic and purposeful—we are not your average rescue organization.
