We’re hiring part-time, experienced Youth Mentors for weekend grave shifts. This shift is every Friday and Satruday night from 10pm-6am. About Us:
Straight Path is a small residential treatment center dedicated to supporting youth with behavioral and emotional challenges. We provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where clients learn, grow, and achieve success.
Job Summary: The Youth Mentor plays a crucial role in supporting and guiding residents within the residential setting. This position is responsible for caring for and monitoring youth during the overnight hours, providing direct care and support to residents, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The Youth Mentor works closely with the Shift Supervisor, House Manager, and other staff members to promote the well-being and development of residents, fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously monitor the youth during the overnight hours for health and safety
- Complete incident reports and shift notes accurately and timely
- Provide companionship, socialization, and emotional support to residents, fostering a sense of community and belonging
- Assist residents with daily living skills as needed
- Monitor residents' activities to ensure their safety and compliance with house rules
- Perform cleaning and organizing tasks during the shift
Crisis Management:
- Respond calmly and effectively to crisis situations, using de-escalation techniques as necessary to maintain a safe environment
- Promote a positive and respectful environment that is free from abuse, neglect, and other harmful behaviors
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in social work, psychology, or related field is a plus
- Experience working with youth in a residential or similar setting is preferred
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging or stressful situations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Experience in crisis management and de-escalation techniques preferred
- Valid driver’s license and ability to transport residents as needed
Skills and Abilities:
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with youth
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
- Proficient in documentation and record-keeping
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Pass a background check and drug screening
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks when necessary
- Ability to walk up and down stairs
- Must become CPR and First Aid certified and obtain a Food Handler permit
Schedule:
- Willingness to be flexible with days and hours is desirable
- PRN opportunities are available if more hours are desired
