Senior Civil Project Manager/Field Superintendent

Position Overview

Schaefer Company is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Project Manager / Field Superintendent to lead our growing site development division. We are looking for a motivated leader with extensive experience in earthwork, utilities, site concrete, and commercial site development who can oversee projects from preconstruction through completion.

This is not a desk-only position. The ideal candidate is comfortable both in the field and in the office, managing crews, coordinating subcontractors, developing schedules, controlling costs, and helping secure future work.

Responsibilities

Manage multiple civil construction projects simultaneously

Oversee grading, excavation, utilities, site concrete, erosion control, and paving operations

Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors

Review plans, specifications, and contract documents

Develop project schedules and maintain production goals

Manage budgets, cost tracking, and change orders

Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with estimating and bidding

Attend owner, contractor, and progress meetings

Ensure safety, quality control, and project compliance

Build and maintain relationships with clients, developers, engineers, and general contractors

Identify and pursue new project opportunities

Preferred Experience

5+ years of civil construction management experience

Strong background in site development, utilities, grading, and concrete

Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications

Experience managing crews and subcontractors

Knowledge of project scheduling and cost management

Experience with estimating software and takeoff programs is preferred

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
