This is a Direct Hire role with the employer
Federal Contractor - must be US Citizen
Setup Operator - CNC
Reports To: Shop Supervisor
Purpose/Description
Setup and operate computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts which meet or exceed customer specifications working in a safe environment while contributing to a culture of constant process improvement and lean initiatives.
Job Duties:
- Operate CNC, manual or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations including but not limited to milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing, and sanding.
- Measure parts for accuracy, using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and attribute gages.
- Machine parts to specifications and or quality requirements using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders.
- Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
- Record production data thru out shift using MES system and various tracking forms.
- Simultaneously run multiple machines while maintaining expected quality levels.
- Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition verifying all fluids are replenished and coolant levels are within the acceptable range.
- Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.
- Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal. Ensure that the disposal of scrap or waste material is in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Keep work areas clean and free of obstruction including all company and personal property.
- Evaluate machining procedures and recommend to the appropriate team, changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.
- Participate in lean team activities and training while working toward the common goal of constant process improvement

Position Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 5 years in manufacturing environment with 3 years of setup.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic handheld measuring tools.
Physical Demands
Manual Dexterity Work requires few simple but rapid hand operations, requiring some closely coordinated hand to eye performance.
Physical Condition While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and lift. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
Working Conditions Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable, hearing protection is available.
Hazards Negligible. Little or no exposure to hazards.
