Position Summary

The job of the Teacher - English for Speakers of Other Languages is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing quality language instruction and services to students whose first language is not English; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in assessments; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students; parents or guardians. Administers screenings and yearly language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students’ language ability.Assesses student progress toward objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration, to inform planning/identify student needs, and monitor progress. Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Provides language instruction, assessment, planning and support to English for speakers of other languages for the purpose of improving their success in academics and socialization skills. Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work team.

Qualifications

• Wyoming State Department of Education certification appropriate for subject and grade level or both as required
• BA or BS degree
• Must be Highly Qualified Status
• Must be endorsed as English as a Second Language (ESL) in the state of WY
• Able to pass a background check
• Passion for teaching diverse and free/reduced lunch students
• Willingness to work hard and put in long hours – must be flexible
• Experience working with 6-10 grade and/or experience working with diverse students
• Be a team player
• Multiple Certifications/Endorsements a plus
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus (not required)
