Job Overview
Join our dynamic dental team three days per week as a Dental Hygienist and become a vital part of delivering exceptional patient care in a welcoming, professional environment! In this role, you will utilize your expertise to perform thorough dental cleanings, patient assessments, and education while ensuring the highest standards of infection control and safety. Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis procedures including cleaning, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and updating medical records accurately within EMR systems.
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment plans tailored to pediatric dentistry needs when applicable.
- Maintain strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including medical coding and recordkeeping for insurance or legal purposes.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification.
- Proven experience in dental office settings with familiarity in dental terminology, medical terminology, and documentation review.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental (or willing to learn)
- Knowledge of infection control procedures, anatomy, and aseptic technique essential for safe practice.
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with children is a plus.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
