About ACUE
The Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) is dedicated to student success through high-quality instruction. In partnership with higher education institutions, we offer the only nationally recognized Effective Teaching certification, endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE), supported by a vibrant online community of practice focused on advancing teaching excellence. ACUE-certified faculty deliver exceptional teaching in every class, resulting in higher student engagement, improved achievement, and stronger retention—outcomes that enhance institutional impact and support long-term student success.
Summary
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Marketing is a senior leader responsible for the strategy, execution, and leadership of all marketing, brand, and communications functions at ACUE. This leader will sit on the executive team, contributing to company-wide strategy while owning the full marketing and communications function - from growth marketing and digital channels to brand identity, thought leadership, media relations, and creative advertising.
The right candidate brings a builder's mentality, a marketer's instincts, and a genuine passion for the mission of transforming higher education through teaching excellence.
What You Will Own
Growth Marketing
- Own the full demand generation engine - building and scaling a multi-channel marketing strategy that drives qualified pipeline, accelerates institutional partnerships, and fuels revenue growth
- Design and execute integrated campaigns across digital, social, email, content, and events that move prospects through the funnel efficiently and predictably
- Partner closely with the Partnerships team to ensure marketing is directly accountable for pipeline contribution - not just brand awareness
- Build and continuously optimize lead generation infrastructure including marketing automation, lead scoring, nurture sequences, and CRM integration
- Define, track, and report on marketing KPIs with a clear line of sight to revenue - CAC, pipeline contribution, conversion rates, and ROI by channel
- Identify and develop new channels and audience segments that expand ACUE's reach into untapped institutional markets
- Bring a test-and-learn mentality, always running experiments, measuring results, and doubling down on what works
Brand, Communications & Digital
- Define and steward ACUE's brand identity, voice, and positioning across all channels and audiences
- Lead a comprehensive communications strategy that elevates ACUE's profile with institutional leaders, faculty, staff, foundations, policymakers, and the public
- Oversee PR, media relations, and earned media strategy — building relationships with key journalists, publications, and influencers in higher education
- Drive thought leadership and executive visibility through speaking engagements and content platforms
- Lead ACUE's digital presence including website strategy, SEO, social media, and digital advertising
- Oversee creative development ensuring ACUE's visual identity and content consistently reflect the brand's mission and quality standards
- Manage agency and vendor relationships, holding external partners accountable for outcomes
External Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Develop and execute a thought leadership strategy that positions ACUE as the authoritative voice on teaching excellence and student success
- Build and manage relationships with key external stakeholders including media, associations, policy organizations, and research partners
- Represent ACUE at conferences, convenings, and in the media
Who You Are
- A seasoned marketing executive with 12+ years of progressive experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role
- A brand builder with demonstrated success elevating an organization's profile and market position
- A growth marketer who understands how to drive B2B pipeline and revenue at scale
- Deeply familiar with the higher education landscape - you understand how institutional decisions are made and how to reach and influence the people who make them
- Comfortable operating at both the strategic and executional level - you can set the vision and roll up your sleeves
- An exceptional communicator and storyteller, in writing and in person
- Experience in mission-driven, startup, or scale-up environments - you thrive with ambiguity and move with urgency
- A collaborative executive who builds trust across functions and brings people together around a shared vision
ACUE is an equal-opportunity employer. We value a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture.
