Strategic Buyer

Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic-minded Strategic Buyer to join our procurement team and manage supplier relations and global procurement strategies. In this vital role, you will drive sourcing initiatives, negotiate contracts, manage supplier relationships to ensure the seamless procurement of materials and services, supporting sales with budget and lead times, and collaborating with global strategic team to align procurement activities with company standards and business goals. Your expertise will help optimize costs, improve supply chain efficiency, and uphold quality standards across all procurement activities. Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure long-term value and performance.
• Lead supplier negotiations for pricing, contracts, terms, and service agreements.
• Manage long lead item planning and sourcing for all business unit projects.
• Prepare requisitions for long lead items according to engineering specifications
• Support long lead item management projects for all business units.
• Collaborate with sales and engineering to identify and develop strategies and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
• Collaborate with global strategic buying team to support development of domestic and global commodities.
• Assess current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery performance.
• Support new product introductions and strategic sourcing projects.
• Support sales during opportunity phase assessing budgets and lead times
• Ensure purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
• Vet new suppliers and global markets to develop sourcing strategies to reduce costs.
• Attend trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain understanding of new products and trends as well as supplier relationship building.
• Maintain item management within ERP system, including most up to date pricing and contract terms.
• Maintain flexibility and willingness to work under short timelines and accommodate changing work environment.

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, or related field
• 5-7 years of experience in strategic sourcing
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• Experience in project based purchasing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement analytics tools
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience managing KPI’s and using data
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Thorough understanding of materials and suppliers used in the automation business
• Technical ability to collaborate with engineering and sales on opportunities
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
