Part-Time Retail and Event Associate
Harvest House – Newfield
Location: Harvest House at Newfield | Job Type: Part-Time (Weekends & Evenings Required) Compensation: $21/per hour
About The Harvest House
At Newfield, we’re passionate about providing fresh, local, and high-quality farm products to our community. Our farm market, the Harvest House, is a hub for fresh-picked produce, homemade goods, and locally sourced products. We take pride in creating a warm, welcoming, and authentic farm-to-table shopping experience for the community.
Job Overview
We’re looking for a friendly and energetic Part-Time Retail Sales Associate to join our Harvest House team! In this role, you’ll help create a positive shopping experience for our customers, assist with daily store operations, and share the story of Newfield and our farm-fresh products. You will also play an active role supporting our Lifestyle Director with large community events — from setup to breakdown and everything in between. If you love local food, enjoy engaging with people, and don’t mind getting your hands a little dirty, we’d love to meet you!
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Open, maintain, and close the Harvest House in accordance with operating procedures.
- Greet customers with a warm, friendly attitude and provide exceptional service.
- Assist customers by answering basic questions about Newfield and its offerings, farm products, and local goods. Direct customers to the Newfield Welcome Center for community questions.
- Operate the register and process transactions accurately.
- Recommend products and help customers discover new local favorites.
Store & Product Oversight
- Restock shelves, produce displays, and refrigerators to maintain a fresh and appealing presentation.
- Handle fresh produce with care, ensuring quality and proper rotation.
- Maintain a clean and organized store, including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, and keeping displays tidy.
- Ensure store merchandise is neat and conforms with the design plan.
- Assist with inventory tracking and restocking products.
Education & Engagement
- Learn about our products and share their stories with customers.
- Offer samples or assist with product tastings when applicable.
- Promote seasonal produce, special promotions, and upcoming community events.
Event Support
A key part of this role is supporting the Lifestyle Director in planning and executing community events. You will assist before, during, and after events to ensure a seamless guest experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with event setup and breakdown, including arranging signage, tables, displays, and event materials.
- Help coordinate vendor organization and logistics on event day.
- Assist with ordering, assembling, and distributing giveaway items and promotional materials.
- Oversee guest registration and welcome attendees at check-in.
- Take photographs to document events for marketing and community engagement purposes.
- Support cleanup efforts to ensure the venue is returned to its original condition.
- Assist with grand openings and other special promotional events as needed.
- Communicate proactively with the Lifestyle Director before and during events to anticipate needs and resolve issues quickly.
What We’re Looking For
- Passion for fresh, local food and sustainability.
- Friendly, outgoing personality with great communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs (produce crates, farm goods, etc.).
- Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and during community events.
- Comfortable being on your feet and working in both indoor and outdoor settings during events.
- Prior retail, farmers’ market, event support, or customer service experience is a plus — but not required. We’re happy to train the right person!
