Job Summary

Kin Fitness is a locally owned fitness studio in Newburyport, MA offering award-winning personal training, adult classes, open gym, and family-friendly programs for all ages. Our certified trainers and instructors provide supportive, expert-led workouts focused on functional strength, mobility, balance, and real-life movement in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment. We believe in fitness for every age and community for every body.

We’re looking for an energetic, motivating, and compassionate Group Fitness Instructor to lead classes for all fitness levels. Someone who can bring both expertise and personality to every class. If you have a passion for fitness, enjoy coaching people, and have the skills to lead effective and energetic workouts, we would love to have you join our team!

We offer a variety of class options at our studio, and are open to instructors with various specialties including: HIIT, Strength, TRX, Bootcamp, Kickboxing, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, Mobility, Dance, etc. As we offer classes for all ages, experience working with children is a plus, but not required. If interested, we will train you to lead our unique family friendly classes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead safe, effective, and engaging fitness classes
  • Inspire and motivate members with positive energy and clear instruction
  • Monitor participants and adapt programming to meet different fitness levels and abilities, preventing injury and maximizing effectiveness
  • Instruct and demonstrate proper exercise techniques to clients, educating on body mechanics and fitness
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and positive attitude to help foster a welcoming and encouraging environment
  • Provide outstanding customer service, creating fun and memorable experiences for clients to promote long lasting relationships and strong community
  • Promote class participation and engagement
  • Maintain a clean and organized workout environment to maintain a safe space
  • Learn and train to lead our specialty classes as needed
  • Represent yourself and the organization professionally, through your appearance, language, and behavior
  • May lead sessions beyond classes including special events and programs
  • Promote classes and gym services to increase client engagement
  • Stay updated on the latest fitness trends, physiology knowledge, and coaching methods

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Certified fitness professional (ACE, NASM, AFAA, or equivalent) preferred
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
  • Experience teaching group fitness, small group training, or specialty classes (strength, mobility, HIIT, dance, kickboxing, pilates , yoga, etc.)
  • Passion for community and helping people of all ages move with confidence
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and inspire clients to achieve their fitness goals
  • Ability to adapt exercises for clients with different fitness levels or limitations
  • High energy personality with a positive attitude
  • Willingness & desire to learn and develop as an instructor as well as actively be a part of a growing small business
  • Specialty fitness or nutrition certifications is a plus
  • Experience & enjoyment in working with clients of all ages a plus
  • Background in physical education, coaching, and/or dance, cheer, sports, martial arts or gymnastics is a plus
  • Represent yourself and the organization professionally, through your appearance, language, and behavior
  • Open to flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends
  • Willing to go through background check/CORI process
