Ward Engineering Group is seeking a motivated and experienced Civil Engineer / Project Manager to join our team. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys leading projects from concept through construction while working closely with clients, municipalities, engineers, surveyors, and design staff.

We are looking for a candidate who combines strong technical expertise with leadership, communication, and project management skills to help deliver high-quality engineering solutions across a variety of projects, including site development, municipal infrastructure, and water resources.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently while coordinating and directing the design process for site development, water resources, and municipal engineering projects
  • Manage civil engineering projects from planning and design through permitting, construction, and completion
  • Prepare and oversee the design of grading, drainage, utility, roadway, and site development plans
  • Coordinate with clients, municipalities, contractors, and internal project teams
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and timelines
  • Review plans, calculations, reports, and specifications for accuracy and quality control
  • Assist with permitting, agency coordination, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to engineering and drafting staff
  • Practice problem-solving and conflict resolution throughout project delivery
  • Attend client meetings, site visits, and project coordination meetings as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in civil engineering, site development, or land development engineering required.
  • Experience in municipal engineering and public project delivery is desired but not required
  • Experience in water resources engineering is desired but not required
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software required
  • Project management or project engineer experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of site development, infrastructure design, permitting, and construction practices
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Strong writing, client relationship, and business development skills are highly valued
