Kennel Technician – Dog Boarding & Daycare

Poulsbo Pet Club is looking for a dependable, animal-loving Kennel Technician to join our boarding and daycare team.

This position is hands-on, active, and deeply important to the daily care of the dogs entrusted to us. Our kennel technicians help keep dogs safe, clean, comfortable, and cared for while supporting a calm, professional environment for pets, clients, and team members.

The ideal candidate is kind, observant, reliable, physically capable, and genuinely enjoys working with dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments.

This is not a “just play with dogs” job. It includes cleaning, feeding, monitoring behavior, following safety protocols, communicating with the team, and maintaining a high standard of care every day.

Responsibilities Include

• Feeding, watering, and caring for boarding and daycare dogs
• Cleaning kennels, yards, play areas, bowls, bedding, and facility spaces
• Monitoring dogs for behavior, health, stress, appetite, elimination, and safety concerns
• Safely moving dogs between kennels, yards, grooming, daycare, and other service areas
• Following written care instructions for each dog
• Supporting structured play, rest, enrichment, and calm handling
• Reporting concerns to supervisors promptly and clearly
• Helping maintain a clean, odor-controlled, professional facility
• Assisting with laundry, dishes, trash, sanitation, and daily closing/opening duties
• Communicating respectfully with teammates and leadership

• Comfortable with dogs of all sizes
• Calm under pressure
• Physically able to be on their feet, bend, lift, clean, and handle active dogs
• Willing to clean thoroughly and consistently
• Able to follow instructions and safety protocols
• Kind, teachable, and team-oriented
• Observant enough to notice changes in dog behavior or health
• Professional with clients and coworkers

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in boarding, daycare, grooming, veterinary, shelter, rescue, or dog handling is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person.

Requirements

• Must be able to safely handle dogs of different sizes and temperaments
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be comfortable with cleaning, odors, noise, hair, and physical work
• Must be dependable and available for scheduled shifts
• Weekend and holiday availability may be required
• Must be willing to follow PPC safety and care standards

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
