Show clients how to exercise

Monitor client progress

Most personal trainers work with clients for extended periods of time ranging from weeks to years. During this time, they track clients’ progress, including metrics like weight, muscle mass and workout times.

Advise clients about diet and nutrition

Many personal trainers also talk with clients about diet, nutrition and lifestyle issues. They may advise clients to make changes to their diet or lifestyle so they can reach their fitness goals.

Provide emergency first aid

If their clients experience a medical emergency or cardiac arrest, personal trainers act as first responders. Personal trainers typically have experience with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) devices.
