EHS Coordinator
Location: Chattanooga, TN

Our client, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of mechanical and architectural air movement and control products. Serving commercial, industrial, and power generation markets, their product offerings include dampers, louvers, roof curbs and rails, sunshades, drop plenum supply and concentric diffusers, access doors, and ventilators.

Position Overview

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator will play a key role in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment, working closely with all plant departments. This position requires spending approximately 80% of the time on the manufacturing floor to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by implementing safety programs and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other federal and state regulations.
  • Manage environmental reporting requirements (EPCRA, air, wastewater, etc.).
  • Assist in deploying and maintaining environmental and safety policies at the plant level.
  • Lead investigations for near-miss incidents, hazards, and accidents, preparing necessary documentation.
  • Serve as a Train-the-Trainer for job-specific areas (e.g., forklift training, Lock/Tag/Try procedures).
  • Oversee industrial hygiene programs, including ergonomics, hearing conservation, and respiratory protection.
  • Conduct and complete safety and environmental audits.
  • Develop and implement standardized Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
  • Maintain chemical inventory, SDS, and waste inspections in accordance with EPA guidelines.
  • Facilitate safety onboarding for new employees.
  • Assist HR with incident and injury reporting, occupational medical communications, and workers’ compensation processes.
  • Coordinate and lead the safety committee.
  • Organize and conduct monthly safety meetings.
  • Manage safety and health-related work orders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Experience with environmental regulations and reporting requirements (SPCC, CERCLA, RCRA, Air, Wastewater, EPCRA, SARA).
  • OSHA 30HR General Industry/Construction certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Certified Forklift Train-the-Trainer preferred.
  • Industrial hygiene experience is a plus.
  • Associate degree in Safety Management or a related field preferred.
  • Strong ability to drive regulatory compliance and influence safety culture without direct authority.
  • Ability to lead and adapt to change in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
