CAFÉ SITE MANAGER (Floater)

The Cafés provide hot, nutritious meals and social interaction to seniors 60 and older, Monday-Friday at various café locations throughout the County. Each Café is run with one part-time Café Site Manager, one Assistant Manager (if needed), and various volunteers. Food for the Cafés is brought to each location in the morning and must be checked and then distributed in accordance with County guidelines. The Cafés are overseen by Meals on Wheels Diablo Region.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The Café Site Manager is responsible for the smooth and hospitable operation of the café, including volunteer training coordination, outreach, and reporting. The Café Site Manager is the organization’s front line with the café participant guests.

This is a part-time position, working 4 days a week from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at multiple café sites throughout the county. Attending twice-monthly meetings via Zoom from 1-2:30 and one quarterly department meeting is required. The Café Manager reports to the Café Program Sr. Specialist.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete all physical and administrative tasks associated with running a Café.
  • Keep detailed records of Café participants, volunteers, and donations.
  • Maintain and monitor equipment sanitization and log refrigerator temperatures.
  • Record food temperatures as required.
  • Accurately complete all paperwork and forms required. This includes weekly and monthly attendance and meal reports.
  • Train Café Volunteers as needed.
  • Work closely with Café Program Specialist and Program Assistant (supervises Cafés).
  • Interface with Café Clubs to encourage participation and support.
  • Place the order with the catering kitchen by 1:00 on the day required.
  • Ensure that each individual receiving a meal has a completed Intake on file.
  • Verify that the correct number of meals is provided by the caterer.
  • Ensure that all containers by the provider are secured before leaving the café location.
  • Attend monthly Staff and County Meetings as required.

REQUIRED DAILY TASKS:

  • Login and check MOWDR email (respond as needed) and record time worked in Paychex Time and Attendance.
  • If assigned a MOWDR direct phone number, use the Webex application to make and receive MOWDR calls.
  • Assist with additional tasks as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Café Program Sr. Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Detail-oriented, reliable, punctual, and independent.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, which could be 4 hours or more.
  • Ability to assist with cleaning and serving food to guests.
  • Proficient computer and MS Office skill level including Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Pass background screening.
  • Sensitive to the needs of older adults.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of car insurance.
