Full job description
Job Purpose Statement: Perform functions to conceptualize, design, develop, and support electrical systems and controls to meet customer and product requirements, utilizing CAD and electrical design tools.
Job Functions:
- Work with proposals, estimates, specifications, and schematics; confer with customers, internal personnel, and vendors; and research historical data to determine project feasibility.
- Plan and develop electrical design concepts for new or modified products, including application of power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, automation, and embedded or PLC-based systems as applicable.
- Work closely with Mechanical Engineers to complete new machine designs, requires a general understanding of pneumatic and mechanical functions.
- Use AutoCAD to create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, and installation drawings. Review design plans with electrical assembly, supervisors, sales representatives, and customers as required.
- Analyze electrical components and systems and perform necessary calculations related to power requirements, short-circuit current, thermal loading, grounding, and safety compliance.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, UL, or customer-specific requirements).
- Prepare bills of material, product structure, purchase requisitions and validation sheets.
- Contact vendors for quotations and component availability.
- Work closely with production to make adaptations, modifications, or changes to designs as warranted to resolve problems.
- Open to possible travel to customer facilities to develop design concept and project direction and to resolve design problems.
- Work with customer service and customers in helping to troubleshoot technical issues of existing machines.
- Maintain records, files, drawings, bills of material and other pertinent materials. Keep abreast of new developments, trends and practices in the field.
- Contribute to optimum product safety through individual and committee efforts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Follow safety rules and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in electrical system design, debugging, and project management within manufacturing or engineering environments.
- Strong proficiency with CAD software including AutoCAD for creating detailed schematics and layouts.
- Familiarity with electrical standards such as NEC regulations to ensure compliance in all designs.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis on complex electrical issues involving signal processing or system failures.
- Mechanical knowledge related to system integration is a plus.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
