Looking for a driven person to join our 2026 Team in Portsmouth, RI. This position is for someone who loves being outdoors and is interested in learning about our custom built pedal powered steel rail bikes.

The Facilities Manager will help maintain, repair, and modify our Rail Explorers vehicles as well as perform upkeep/projects to improve and maintain the hospitality areas of REX RI.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical background with preference for experience with motorcycle/ off-road vehicles/go-kart repair and basic welding.

Job Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure safety & functionality of all Rail Explorers Rhode Island assets and operations
  • Responsible for the scheduling of all necessary maintenance projects
  • Responsible for inventory of all rail bikes, tools and parts for RI
  • Supervision and management of all on site work at Rail Explorers Rhode Island
  • Responsible for the maintenance and proper operation of the Rail Explorers motor coach
  • Responsible for the maintenance and proper operation of the rail bike fleet
  • Responsible for the maintenance and presentation of Rail Explorers hospitality areas

Essential for the position:

  • Self motivated & must be able to work independently and efficiently.
  • Can think "on their feet"
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be reliable and to work to deadlines
  • Good communication skills - Can communicate effectively with their supervisor and relay information regarding performance of vehicles, ongoing projects, condition of tools, supplies etc.
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Friendly and a team player
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Must have Mechanical/ Engineering Background, (Vocational Certificate preferred)
  • Valid driver's license
  • OSHA Certification preferred (not required)
  • Forklift Certification preferred (not required)
